He is ** not a music agent ** ie. does not take a cut of another musician's pay, as long as he himself gets to perform. However, he puts bands together of different styles according to the client's requirements and budgets and is also well placed to provide an advisory roll with regards to providing music appropriate to the event, much like the services of a top agent.

Some example combinations include :

piano / vocalist jazz duo, or
piano / double bass / sax jazz trio (add drums for a standard jazz quartet),
piano / electric guitar / vocals (playing a set of soul / latin/ lounge tunes)
piano / violin (playing english/pop folk tunes)
